A Calmer Gut, A Calmer You
Gastrointestinal health affects far more than your stomach. When your gut feels unsettled, it can impact your energy, sleep, mood and dramatically affect your wellbeing. Acupuncture can help you regain control, take your life back, and create a calmer inside and out.
My origin into acupuncture comes from suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. After two years of being housebound due to the physical and mental stress that it had on me, years of trying to get help but getting nowhere, acupuncture was the only thing that brought my life back. The combination of being listened to, the space it created between the physical and the mental, alongside someone who saw things differently, made me become an acupuncturist. It’s why I love treating gastrointestinal issues so much.
Why Choose Acupuncture for Digestive Issues?
Digestive problems are one of the most common complaints in modern life. It's the combination of intense stress, changed diets, a far more sedentary lifestyle, and environmental factors that all play a role. I am seeing people continuously suffering from gut health, even if it's not what brought them into the clinic originally, and it's one that has such an effect on our general wellbeing. After all, the gut is our second brain. I see so many people with problems such as:
Medical treatment is limited in its approach to gut health, with a combination of drugs or more extreme diets often the intervention of choice. In my experience, it was a case of my stomach hurting, so they treated that. However, Chinese Medicine takes a different approach, not treating the symptoms but looking at the whole system. It's about understanding our general health, including the nervous system, to see what might be causing the problems.

How Acupuncture Can Help Gastrointestinal Issues
Acupuncture helps ease the symptoms and root causes of digestive distress by improving circulation, calming the nervous system, and restoring balance between organ systems.
We can use a five-element approach, which is what my acupuncturist did, to treat the body using a root cause approach. My acupuncturist treated my liver rather than the stomach, as he knew that was what was causing the issues. Often, we treat something else to treat the root, and all of the symptoms start to improve. It's not just a different way of working; it's a way of life.
Scientific research increasingly supports acupuncture's effectiveness in reducing gut sensitivities, calming inflammation, and lowering stress. All of these affect our gastrointestinal health. That's why many people experience less pain, bloating or cramping, improved tolerence to food triggers, more regular bowel movements, and many other side effects.

Josh has a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable approach. His calm demeanour ensures that when you leave a session, you take some of his positive attributes away with you. I would recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an alternative treatment to any health condition.

Why Choose e For Digestive Health?

For me, treating gastrointestinal problems is deeply personal. My passion for helping others stems from my own long and frustrating experiences with severe stomach issues. After being diagnosed with IBS following two years of unresolved digestive problems, including anxiety, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea, I found relief through acupuncture. This experience inspired me to become an acupuncturist, but it also inspired me to help people with similar conditions.
You’re choosing someone who truly understands the lived experiences of digestive distress, not just from a clinical perspective, but also emotionally and physically. Hence, you’re choosing someone who knows firsthand how isolating it can feel, how irrational the mind can be, especially when you’re in a negative spiral of aggravating symptoms.
As a first-class graduate from the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), Josh combines classical acupuncture, TCM and Five Element acupuncture to create treatments that address both your symptoms and the root cause of disease. Deep imbalances often cause digestive issues, and my passion is to find them and treat the root.
My approach is to give patients as much time as possible. We spend a long time every session getting to grips with what’s going on for you. Many patients leave not only with eased symptoms but also with a calmer mind and body. A course of treatments is usually recommended for lasting results, with maintenance sessions helping to keep symptoms in check.
I am qualified, teach students, and work on the Management Team of the college where I once studied, which continually improves my practice as I’m always learning. I try to blend empathy and care, acupuncture expertise, and clinical research to help my patients as best as I can.
Your gut doesn’t have to rule your life. You can find balance, ease, and calmness inside and out with acupuncture.
